Top up oil?

I am absolutely new to electronic ... anything! I drove a retired police car for about 16 years but had wanted a mini forever so bought a used 2014 F56S and .. it kind of intimidates me.

So here is my sure to be stupid question. The electronic oil measuring thing shows it is a bit below the max line. (wish I had a dipstick). I had always kept my oil topped up. I had checked it a couple months back and it was at the same level so I assuming when the car dealer did the oil change they hadnt filled it completely.
Anyway .. should I bother trying to top this up or leave it alone. I thought I would add 1/8 liter slowly and sneak up on full or near full. I figure I would be safe in the zone after the line at max but .. like I said .. I feel like fred flinstone

I would not bother, but a word to the tech at the next 5,000 mile change might be in order.

Cheers,

Charlie

How long 'til next change ? If you wanna be ****, I understand. Get a Quart & sneak up on it, it'll be good practice. Do You Check OiI Idlin' or off ?

I wouldn't bother. From watching the electronic measurement on my 2017 F56 S, I'm not at all sold that it will display with the same granularity as analog, so you could easily overfill without realizing it.

At minimum I would let it drop to the 50% mark before adding anything (outside of a full oil change). If you actually end up at the min mark, it will yell at you and tell you specifically to add 1 quart.

Don't know what oil change interval you're using, but FYI every 5K miles, instead of BMW's recommended 10K mile interval, is a solid recommend and arguably a must for these cars' longevity. Side bonus: if you are doing 5K-interval oil changes, you probably won't find the gauge telling you that you're below the max mark

Its should be fine, within range. These engine don't really consume oil like the last MINIs. At least how new or the mileage. Just make sure you are always on a flat level surface when you do the oil level test. Good to always check it again after an oil change so you dont get any leaks. Also if you see their is an oil leak starting at the oil filter housing area, check and top off. Then if you have a small leak but not repaired yet.

My 2019 F56 will run out to 10K miles plus and stay well above the low limit. Seems like the SUMEbore process is insanely tight relative to older bore tech .
