ECU Replacement

Hi fellow Mini enthusiasts,

most likely I will have to replace the ECU for my R56S N14 MY2007 as i have some corrosion behind the connectors and some major failures (without MIL), i could not get rid off, even with changing a lot of parts.

I checked out the parts number of my ECU (7 641 003, see picture), but BMW parts dealer doesn't even list this exact ECU. The have several other ECUs for my VIN (7630011, 7587549, 7631001) listed, but not my one.
Is it crucial to get the exact same one as replacement or could I also move on with those other part numbers as they are marked as replacement parts in the bmw system?

Thanks in advance
Mike

My guess would be that you can use one of the replacement ECUs but the ECU will need to be coded for your car. Verify with your parts dealer.

@Micha85 ,

You might want to check your FRM foot module for corrosions as well. They are prone to corrosions.

As an option, you can contact "The ECU Pro", and send your current ECU in for testing. I had a knock sensor fault that turned out to be an internal ECU fault.

Keep in mind you'll have to send in your CAS module, and one key for testing. They will install your ECU into one of their MINIs for testing.

The bad part is your CAS module lives under your dashboard, and it will have to be removed to get to the CAS module.
