I noticed there is a lighted dot over the fuel pump symbol on my gas gage and wonder what it means.

Does anybody know?

Probably the full mark.

 

Ah! That was my first guess except that the tank was half full.

 

The full mark remains lit at all times because that's how much gas your Mini prefers. :P

 

I think it's just a reference dot to help give you an idea of how far off the full mark you are when it's dark and you can't see how many lights are off.

Just a little easier to see the gap between level and the dot. Could also count the ticks and just know how many there are total, but I don't think the average person is that detail oriented.

 

I'll check it at night but thought you could see the whole gage with the dash lights on. However, this sounds like the most likely answer.
