R56 OBD Code Scanner (or Other Device) That Can Set the Time (ie, clock for time of day)?
OBD Code Scanner (or Other Device) That Can Set the Time (ie, clock for time of day)?
Greetings! Over the years my original Mini stereo screen has become washed out and unusable during the warmer months -- the only time I can actually see anything on it to use it or change settings is colder days during Fall through Winter. I just recently had some car work done that required disconnecting the battery and so of course my clock is zeroed out. But I cannot reset it until the weather gets cold again (post-summer).
Is there a code scanner or some other device that can connect to the OBD and give me the ability to set the clock?
The minimum I need is just setting the clock, but I am open to more elaborate functionality as I have occasionally thought it would be nifty to read error codes and get meaningful data regarding them. However, I don't anticipate using any of this often enough to warrant something requiring a subscription, so I'd prefer options that are one-time purchases (for hardware/software).
Thanks in advance for any help!

Not certain if it works but one of the thread regarding setting the time for cars with Android Radios in them stated INPA could do it. I believe it is one of the apps/programs used when using NCSExpert. I haven't tried it myself but in a couple weeks, I will find out.
Just found my battery drained on my car I have been repairing from a accident (others fault and no insurance). Once done, I might have to do the same.

I replaced my headunit with an android based aftermarket and was able to set the tach/car clock and date with the Autel maxiCOM MK808. I cannot remember the exact menu but essentially there was an option to sync time and date and the mini pulled the exact time and date from the Autel unit.
So it may not be exactly the same as the time on the headunit but at least I am not looking at zeros....
good luck
