2005 R53 / Thule or Yakima Roof Rack -

Hi,

Yes, I searched.

I’m needing to get a roof rack for the R53. 2005 car. Does anyone have a Thule setup - and can provide the part #s. I can’t figure it out. Same for the Yakima ( I see there is a Q83 and a Q116 mount, but then it gets vague ). I have a set of Thule square bars, so I would only need the mounts there.

thank you

I’m not sure what’s vague about the Yakima setup. Did you check the fit page on the Yakima website? You need the clips you mentioned, four Q-towers and lock cores, and two small round bars. I think the round bars and lock cores are the only things you can buy new these days though.

Yakima

I am using the Yakima set up... not sure if it's the only version but you can see my set up here.

Sliding the clips in-between the rain gutters and the roof is not great but I'm pretty good at it now.

Hi - I guess the vague part is me trying to understand how Thule uses one adapter, and Yakima needs 2 kinds. Added apprehension for me, the car is 2400 miles away, and I would need to walk my kid thru it. I’ll proceed with trying to get the Yakima parts assembled

thanks.

Ah. I think that’s an attachment type thing. The Yakima clips slide in behind the drip rail, while I believe Thule mounts over it.

Yakima is correct. See my old for sale thread for up close photos of how it mounts:

Your Yakima setup looks different than mine. Interesting.

I have a complete Thule rack from my long gone 2004 R53. The square bars are 49" long. No locks, they went to another rack.
My preference is to sell the entire kit, though packaging the rails will be a bit of a pain.
Asking $100 plus shipping. PM me if you are interested.
Thanks.

Thanks to all. I did buy it, and it arrived in Cali on Friday. I’ll make sure to document the parts on this, and help with Thule questions going forward. Thanks to Moboost for a smooth transaction.

Nschwake, I have a Thule rack I just pulled off a 2005 R53. It also has a front spoiler on it. I would like $200 plus shipping. I am in Southern California (92345).

Edit: 11/10/2025. This was sold locally and I no longer possess it. Good luck with your projects!
Thanks,
Colin

Hi, I'm not able to PM you since my account is new, but I am interested if this is still available.
