Recall fix Second Generation R55 2011

Ok so im a mini guy, always have been. It’s only been in the last few years I could really start to get into the game. My first was an 08 R56 Base. It needed alot of work and I couldn’t actually even drive it after I figured what was wrong with it. The guy who sold it to me told me the check engine light was on for a misfire. I thought ok, I would put some new spark plugs in it maybe some coils. All would be good. Wrong. I went to get it inspected. Mechanic said there was almost eleven thousand dollars worth of work. I bought a Haynes and Bentley Repair books thinking I would work on it myself but my finances weren’t allowing me to fix a non drivable and good gas mileage car. I bought an Ancel BD 300 and got all the goings on about the car. Anyway moving on. I’ve decided to to to trade it in for a 2011 Clubman S. I love the first gen. Clubman and I don’t personally like what they when the went to a four door model. Yes I know that S’s aren’t the greatest and second gen. mini’s still have some issues. I didn’t want something newer. N18 is better than N14. I know also that my first had an N12. Ok now to my actual point. The recall for the footwell module issued last year that Mini hasn’t actually released the completion for, my dealer is taking to an actual Mini dealership to get it replaced. They are getting it done for free because they are a dealer and they are fixing everything wrong with it. They brought up the recall for the footwell module before I did. I guess my question is does this solve the issue even though Mini hasn’t actually officially released the fix for the recall. I will be checking things with my BD 300 before I sign anything.

unexpected things have resulted in. I’m no longer going to need help with a clubman with this issue but the original 2008 base which is paid off and I’m just gonna tinker with it instead of trying to do something that could be disastrous. My wife is pregnant.

Thanks in advance.

You can actually take the vehicle yourself and you'll get firsthand knowledge of what's going on.......

The replacement is not a redesigned module, as far as I've been able to determine. They're just replacing a failed module with a new one. So it has the same issue.

What apparently happens is if the module is writing something when the power drops below some threshhold it writes garbage into the EEPROM and can erase the programming. If that's really the case it's a lousy design.

Mine fried when I disconnected the battery when I was replacing the two doors on the passenger side. Ifigured I shoulid disconnect the battery before dealing with airbag sensors and the like, and that killed me.

Mine was not under warranty, I had to get it fixed myself. There are on-line repair places that will take your module, read what they can from the EEPROM and then write back what really should have been there including the coding so that it still works with your car. Not cheap but not the cost of replacing the module at the dealer and getting it re-coded to your car.
