Brake Light Plausibility Error

2013 Clubman S, 70k miles.

I've searched here and with the almighty Google but can't really find anything specific to my issue.

I'm getting a brake error code. My Foxwell NT530 indicates the error code is a brake light plausibility error. Brake lights work and cruise control works. I cleared the code and it came back immediately. Is this a stop light switch (that's what Mini/BMW calls it) issue or something else. Any recommendations on what the issue is and/or what specifically I need to do to diagnose and resolve?

Thanks!!!

Well, unfortunately I was in a hurry when I did the scan and didn't take a picture or save the code and the car is now 3 hours away and will be for a while. All I remember is the "brake light plausibility" statement on the scanner when doing the scan. I cleared the error but it returned immediately when I started the car. That makes me think it is a sensor and/or switch, but I would like to have an idea on how to diagnose when I have access to the car again.

Thanks.

Did you ever resolve this?

I have a 2012 R56 MCS. I got codes 3325 "Brake light switch plausible signal implausible" and 5DB7 "Brake pedal error correlation" and 9CAC "Brake light switch defect ". When driving, what would happen is an alert signal on the tach for the cruise control. It would either kick the cruise control off if engaged, or otherwise wouldn't let you set a speed and turned the cruise control off when you tried.
So naturally I replaced the brake light switch and reset the error codes. Problem kept occuring intermittently. I noticed that it mostly happened on cold mornings on the way to work. I'd reset the fault codes with my scanner, and in the afternoon after it warmed up the error codes didn't come back and the cruise control worked perfectly.

So then for different reasons I replaced the center mounted brake light. Then the problem went away! What the hell? I hate it when things fix themselves with no explanation. There really wasn't anything wrong that I could see with the old brake light, I was just switching it for cosmetic reasons (red lens to frosted white with red LEDs).

So now, six months later, I started to get the same problem, intermittent. For now though I haven't had to clear the codes with the scanner, typically turning the ignition off then back on clears it. So again, what the hell? I really don't think anything was wrong with the original brake light switch. I suppose it's possible that the new brake light has a leaky seal, maybe me washing the car with a pressure washer got some water in.... frustrating. If I knew for sure it was the center brake light causing this then I would take it apart and make sure it's properly potted and sealed before installing it.

Bookmarked that site. Doesn't give much more info than my BlueDriver does, but handy nonetheless.
