Automatic / power trunk liftgate conversion

Has anyone ever installed a power liftgate kit to our beloved hatchbacks? I often have to open and close the trunk for inspection at my worksite and it would be *so* nice to have it done automatically. Especially in rainy days. It seems strange that I haven't found any kits nor DIY projects on the web.

I found this site that sells retrofit kits for many brands including Minis but only for 2014+ models.

That’s because those had the option from factory so all the computers wiring and inter connectivity is there since they are jsut rebodied bmws. They are just missing the cylinder.

you can’t get a power lift gate cylinder to physically fit in the space of a simple short gas strut like r53s have, so there is no retrofit. Whoever is opening the trunk to inspect it should simply open and clsoe the damn trunk themselves.
