Has anyone added android audio to their clubman? I know it can be done with a super expensive stereo upgrade( the local shop wanted $1000).
I have seen some ads for the andream unit for around $300. Has anyone done this or found another way to do this for under $500 installed?

All I really want is text read out and response hands free.

 

I've been loving this Road-top solution for my NBT-EVO in my 2016 F54 (and my spouse's F57 Justa): Excellent CS and pretty stable. The only downside is analog audio instead of direct digital connection between Mini head unit and converter box- but I think this is standard fare for these boxes. Also very tight fit under the headunit.

Pretty much a variation on the same platform as Andream I believe, but available via Amazon. But be sure to confirm compatibility with 2017.

 

I want to do this, but I am really intimidated about taking off the dash and being able to get it back together without looking janky... I really need to invest in some trim tools, though...

I believe these are all variants of the andream platform. Maybe a bit of customization but largely the same hardware and limitations.
