F55/F56 Seatbelt/B Pillar rattle?
Seatbelt/B Pillar rattle?
Hello. I have a new 2023 Cooper S F56. I have started to notice a rattle near my left ear. I feel like it's coming from where the seatbelt comes out, in that B pillar area in general. I press on various parts and I don't hear any rattles when I tap or press. Everything seems solid, but the noise is a light rattle, like something is loose. I never had the rattle in my F55, but the B pillar was different design being the four door. It never rattled after 6-7 years except for rear parcel shelf when it was in place. When I do a search on here, I don't see anything related to B pillar rattle.
Anyone have the same issue? Worth having dealer take it apart, or just a "quirk" of the platform? Thanks!

So, I'm brand new to the Mini (508 miles to be exact with my 2024 Mini JCW hardtop 2 door)
I actually believe this may be the window vibrating. Without a full frame and the a stiff suspension I think the vibrations I have heard are from the window moving. Try putting a little pressure against the window to see if that might be the case

This fits the description of a rattle I found years ago on my '15 F56. I don't know if the newer cars swapped it out for a light but the door lock pin thing that goes up and down rattled the slightest bit. You can't see it move but if you just put your finger on it, if that's the source it should stop. Best of luck!
The 2023 MCS I had used to do this too. I believe one of the other commenters is right about the window being the culprit. Out of all the frameless window cars I’ve had that MCS was the only one to make that noise. (My previous 2021 Mustang GT and current 2023 BRZ were also frameless and never had any annoying noises from the window).

I have rattle in my passenger door on my 2016 mcs. It's definitely more noticeable when it's cold outside.
