Italian Job 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!!! It looks like they are going ahead and making the Italian Job 2. Finally. Lol Check it out. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427396/...c=3;ft=21;fm=1
and http://www.countingdown.com/movies/3520727

I was so freken out when I ran across this. I heard of talks but didn't think they were starting to make it, with a release date sometime in 2006. Ahhh 1 more year. O well. Hopefully they will not make the movie without the Mighty Mini's. After all, they made the 1st one.

Hi! I'm old news...have we met?

Been in the works for quite awhile. It is either currently filming or about to start with most of the original cast back.

Edit: Actually now it looks like filming is pushed back to later this year. Wahlberg is currently filming The Brothers and then will follow that with The Departed.

Very well may be without the MINI's but that's no big deal. The Italian Job is fun to watch because it's a fun movie. Not too intelligent but not stupid either. Just a fun popcorn movie. Yeah the MINI sequences are cool as hell but if they use MINI's again it would almost seem like MINI is sponsoring the sequel just to get press.

The first Italian job was made in England in 1966

This old British film is worth a look. Quite funny because of it's age. Starring Micheal Caine. Great scene with original mini. A one point a stunt driver even tries to roll the mini upside down in the drain pipe scene.

NO WAY...thats SO awesome!
And, of course, there SHOULD be MINI's in it...that movie was why I first became interested in the MINI

Last I heard was that the production still hasn't made it out of the script stage and may never get beyond it... However, that's a rumor I heard and not a hard fact.

That's too bad. Unfortunately Hollywood has to milk everything to death until there is absolutely nothing left. Where does it end?

It ends when you run out of Popcorn - then it's time for a refill!

The movie will tank if it's not got Mini's in it again.

I agree, the film has to have MINIs...or even Minis for that matter...if it's to be called The Italian Job. To do otherwise would be a grave sin!!!! If it's to be done w/o MINIs why not just make the film and call it something else. The Brits will go ballistic...at least those who didn't already go ballistic after the last re-make. If the original wasn't considered a classic, it'd be somewhat forgivable, but as things stand now, no.

Of course, what do I know? When I see either TIJ I just can't get past the presence of Mini/MINIs. They are major characters, imo!!! Could "Jaws 2" be made w/o a shark, or "Star Wars 2" w/o R2D2 or C3PO?

Hollywood, take care....do not raise our ire!!!

No wonder it didn't make it beyond the script. The two writers have identical credits. Their biggest movie to date is the remake of Italian Job. I hope Italian Job 2 (or should it be 3?) will not be as disappointing as Alien vs Predator was.

The real question is should they even try an IJ 2? I fear it would be about as lame as Jaws 2 was when compared to the original.

At least we got a bigger shark in Jaws 2. Uh oh. Maybe we'll get the 2007 MINIs in the next Italian Job.

Ij2

I liked both versions. Great photography in both! I would definately add the third one to my collection.

In fact the only bad thing about them is all the Minis wrecked during the productions!

They milk everything to death because we pay to go see it. All we really want is Mini's. I won't go see it if it doesn't have Mini's. There are plenty of crappy movies I would watch over a remake of a "popcorn" movie. Bring on the Mini's. I have more fun watching the assembly of Mini's on the web.

Motor on!

Totally Agree!!! So far the latest thing i've heard also is it is just finished with the script and they got all the original cast signed back on. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427396/ Anything that I've seen on imdb HAS made it to the theatre so far and I've never seen a movie put on there till they are officially confirmed usually. So it's a safe bet that it's defanatelly getting made. F. Gary Grey is still supposed to be directing it but that will not be announced till it enters pre production which will probally be another month or 2. So chances are if he is directing it, we will see the Mini's again. I would most likely not go see it if they weren't. O well though I guess we will wait and see...

Italian Job Sequal

According to my Google search, I think filming already began in Toronto, Paris and California.

I think the last movie had just enough Minis, without becoming a Mini ad, and still remaining a fast paced, heist story that doesn't simply retell the original (1966) version.

Now we know Stella (our girl Charlize) is a diehard Mini/MINI freak in the film. So theoretically she still drives/owns that little red classic Mini. AND the crew did all take off in that train w/ their MINIs (slightly banged up) safely tucked aboard. You saw Stella's face the first few times she drove her MCS. Do you REALLY think she could give up that kind of euphoria? I think not. I'm bettin' she used her share of the gold to buy a JCW MCS...for starters!!

AND if Stella and Charlie are an item as the first (ummm...second?) film indicates, don't you think Charlie is out there motoring w/ his honey?!?!?!

Maybe it'll be like the Bourne Identity where the MINIs are a factor in a portion of the film but then other cars are also introduced into the plot...kinda like the original TIJ! After all, we do know Handsome Rob got his Aston Martin Vanquish!!!! If they could weave MINIs and a couple of other cool cars into a tangled web of a plot, it'd be a great car movie in general, even if MINIs aren't the sole stars of the big climactic chase scene!

But this time, get Russ Swift and crew involved w/ the stunts.....that'd be OVER THE TOP!!!

I'd be surprised and disappointed if MINIs were used again in the sequel, because then it'd seem like an obvious marketing ploy ... which would be a bit too glaring for me.

On the topic of cinema, I'd like to see more from the Jason Bourne franchise. :p
