Where you put your SWI-X LED?
Hi, I just received the SWI-X I bought from Ebay, I am reading the instruction carefully to make sure when I really start the work, will do everything right and hopefully got it in one shot. Just curious, for those of you had done the SWI-X installation. Where did you mount the LED? Any pics?
I was thinking to drill a hole on the Mini armrest I have, but seems the wire of the LED is not that long. Any electronics expert here knows whether that wire connecting to the LED can be extended by replacing another piece of longer wire and still work?
Thanks.

The shop installed mine in the plastic cover of the steering column. It was put in just below the ignition switch. If i had it to do over again it should be above the switch because once in awhile the keys block the LED. It is a good system and works about 90% of the time.

In my 03 I had it in my steering column, but wasn't too happy with the performance. I was thinking of putting it in the panel by the sunroof switch in my 05 (there's plenty of room to stick the module in the roof). Anyone else try this?
As far as extending the IR transmitter, it can probably be extended, but most IR cables I've seen (for vcr's dvd players, etc) are coax cable which is a little trickier to cut and splice.
update: I mounted the IR transmitter in the panel with the map lights in it (where the clock is in the 02-04) and it works great. I would imagine it would work just as well in the bottom of the clock in the earlier models.
