Hello, I had a shift **** made to replace the OEM ****. Searching around the internet on how to remove the old ****, it seemed very straight forward, just pull straight up. But when I did this, it felt like the whole thing, shaft and all came up. Not just the ****. In fact it felt like the boot moved as well. And if I'm understanding how the **** is connected, only the **** should have any movement. So I stopped not wanting to damage anything or move something where I couldn't get it back to where it was before I got more info on how to do this for a 2023 3rd gen.
Has anyone here removed their 3rd gen shift ****? Thanks
I was able to get the shift **** off, but it came off in one piece attached to the shaft, which has the actual shaft on the inside. So as far as I can tell, the **** does not detach from the outer shaft. see the picture.

**** and shaft are all one piece. The boot can be removed. Whalen shift Machine (don't know if he's still around) disassembled one, should be an old thread somewhere.

So does that mean you cannot replace the **** alone on the newest F56 unless you replace the whole thing boot and all?
To my knowledge yes. If I may, I didn't like the weighted *****, the factory didn't counter balance for a heavy *****, they all felt off to me. Plus I dint like the shifter lowered either. I recently installed shift **** caps and it took away that transition form the leather to the chrome.

Doug Whalen is no longer making the *****. He has retired.
