Xenon (Amazon) headlight housing issue, looking for ideas and/or thoughts
Hey gang,
Long time listener, first time poster (and just registered). I usually just lurk, but this time I actually need help.
Bought some Spyder black housing headlights for my 2009 Mini Clubman S with Xenon HIDs.
Originally Amazon said with excitement, "This fits!" After looking again, it now says it doesn't fit and I believe the issue to be the ballast module itself only.
Author's Note: I tried to search this issue and ran down a rabbit hole of Xenon information, but not anything specific to this issue.
Tried to install them this morning only to find that the ballast module from my stock headlights is 4-screw (connection), and the one that plugs and plays into the Spyder housing is 3-screw (connection).
Here's my question:
Could I potentially buy a 3-screw (connection) ballast and just plug and play these puppies as intended, or is there something I'm not thinking about?
It looks like the 2012 Mini ballast is the 3-screw that would fit these new housings, but I'm not completely sure it would be that simple.
Has anyone seen this/thought of this/actually pulled this off, or am I returning these and going back to square one?
Thanks everyone!
Danny

Glad you found my other post, yea those ebay and amazon resellers will know nothing about MINIs and their fits guide is a crapshoot. That's why people come to us.

Yep, you are welcome.
I have most of the answers on this forums, those ebay and amazon resellers aren't even worth it. They don't support MINI and don't know them. Most of the time if you have a problems they switch usernames and stop seller under a store if their is problems. They make a new store and do the same thing. Just a heads up on those.
