Fixing the rear view mirror

So my rear view mirror has become looser and looser over time and i tried to fix it. Ended up popping the ring out, which you'll find around the backside. This essentially sits on the outside of the well were the balljoint sits.

1. Does this need to be adjusted overtime to fix how loose it is? Or does it just wear overtime and there's nothing you can really do?
2. If it can be fixed, what would the tool be called that you would use to widen the ring so that you can push the ring around the well again? I tried for what felt like forever to get it back in place and eventually had to give up.

Mine has been tight, never really had a problem on my R56 or R58 , yep the clip i guess can get loose if some one did a repair and messed it up on install (window repair). You turn it like a quarter turn and then it pops out. This is what it look like new. If its too damaged it might not hold. Might need to get a new one as you cant get the clip on its own, flat head screwdriver or remove the clip and bend it.

Would to see an option of this mirror with a rear view camera input !

All the generics do not fit the style of the mini !

Nope, their is none on the market for MINI.

But... MINI has factory cameras now. 2.0 and 3.0 version, 3.0 is the latest.

The front kit will fit for F57 Convertible, R52 Convertible, and R57 Convertible, not for the rear of the convertibles. Sorry did not know you had an R57. Their is a version 3.0 which is the newest linked above.

v 2.0
