F54 2016 MINI Clubman Mod question
2016 MINI Clubman Mod question
Hello, I am hoping y’all can help me think through a change I am considering. I have a 2016 Mini Clubman S that I have modified. Since I have owned it, I have added a Burger Motorsports CAI, a Forge updated intercooler, a Forge High Flow Intake Hard pipe, a Racing Dynamics Sport Cat, and a Magna Flow muffler. I also removed the post-cat resonator at the time I swapped the exhaust. In December, I had a stage 2 tune done by Solo Motorsports out of Atlanta. It runs great and is around 50HP above stock with the modifications with lots of acceleration for a FWD. We are thinking about switching the Mini to my wife as her daily driver. With the modifications, she finds it a little “rumbley” and loud. To me it drives great and sounds great. My question is, if I were to add a factor resonator back, what effect would that have on the vibrations that she is feeling? Obviously, it will dampen the sound some and restrict airflow, but would it have any negative effects on the engine? Currently, it doesn’t through any codes or CEL and I don’t want it to start. I obviously don’t want to reverse everything, but would like to make it feel better to her if she is going to drive it daily. Any thoughts on what the addition of the factory resonator would possibly do? Thanks so much for your help.
Adding factory resonator back will make it quieter and reduce the vibrations. It will still be louder then stock with the rear section in aftermarket but will reduce drone at certain RPMs.

Thanks ECSTuning! I thought that it would help with the vibrations, which is her primary issue, I just wanted to know if it might impact anything else other than possible airflow restriction when adding the resonator. I am struggling a little bit about going forward. Right now, there is very little restriction and I think I got the best of both worlds going with the sport cat vs. catless, since the smell isn't as prominent as it would be. It is so much fun to drive and everyone that knows Minis says it sounds so good. So, a point of pride and enjoyment. I know this will affect it, I just wanted to know how much. Thanks again for the information.

One more question ECSTuning, if you please. Do you happen to know the part number for the resonator if I were to add it back? I didn't keep the original, since I didn't intend on re-installing it. Since then, I have learned to keep everything and not let any of it go. Thanks in advance.

Its expensive as it has a catalytic ( secondary scrubber) thats your emission system does not look at. No oxygen sensor.
