I can't figure out why my 09 clubman won't read my o2 sensors? I've replaced them (2 , up and downstream) more than once. Are there more than 2? Could it be the wiring? I can't pass emissions in my state and have to pay extra to get an emissions waver when getting my safety inspection. Any suggestions?

Does the engine run? Are there codes being displayed?

 

Yes it's does run and it does have codes that pop up. I have them written down in the car but it's at the garage getting inspected so I don't know what they are off hand.

 

Once you have the codes, post them and that's a starting place.

Since you're a new owner, one other possibility is you have a tune on the car that disables an O2 sensor. When I bought my car, it had a Manic tune on it and never had been smogged. The shop thought the O2 sensor was bad, but once I read up on the tune I was able to take it back to the stock and O2 sensor was fine. I have to do that every 2 years to smog the car, and then set it back.
