Hello all,

I've been enjoying NAM for the last two months as I waited for the delivery of my new MINI. Reading the postings here and seeing the pictures of peoples MINIs and their mods helped a long wait go a little bit faster. I first saw the MINI at the 2001 North American auto show in Detroit. Obviously, it was the most interesting car at the show, but I wasn't in the market for a cat at the time and the MINI wasn't available yet. Actually, I can trace the seeds of my interest in MINIs back to a friend in Austin, Tx who owned two classic MINIs. What can I say? He introduced me to the pleasures of a stylish street legal go-cart.

So Friday after Thanksgiving my family and I went down to Motor City Mini in Detroit (an hour and 45 minutes from where I live) and took the test drive (my wife and I in front and 2 kids in the back). The car met or exceeded my expectations. 40 minutes after the completion of my test drive, I had a car on order - a chili red MCS with white roof, red dash and door bezel, sport package and cold weather package.

I picked my MINI up Friday, Jan 7th and was able to enjoy a few days of dry pavement before putting the snow tires on her. My MINI has been a very competent winter vehicle, but I'm looking forward to the spring.

Thanks DiD. I've really enjoyed your MINI in motion pictures. I was scratching my head on how you were getting the really sharp cars with high background and wheel blur until I saw one the pictures that included the camera mount. Beautiful work!

 

beautiful MCS, your gonna love the CR. would you mind posting some pics of the CR dash, i've been contemplating painting my dash CR and have not been able to find one in person

 

Sorry to take so long to reply. Daylight is short and my work day is long right now so the pictures are flash. The result with the on camera flash is the red looks much brighter in the pictures than it does to the eye.
