R56 Astro if manual mode isn’t workiing

Astro if manual mode isn’t workiing
I move the throttle to the position for M shifting,but it stays in DS drive mode and I can’t shift gears manually now.Only 54000 miles on a 2012 Bayswater edition Cooper S automatic.help!
