07 R56 S Newbie with a few questions!

Hello all! I've been doing a lot of reading and learning about the 07 R56 S that I bought and put about 5000miles on so far. It has appx 90k miles.
The car came with a laundry list of work done including the timing chain guide after failure. So far ive changed the 3 engine/transmission mounts and looking to tackle the next issue.
It burns the max oil I've read about! It also seems to have leaks from the oil pan, valve cover and I think another spot or two. I started researching PCV issues and mods thinking mine might be stuck. It's runs fine! I then discovered the right side vent line was capped off!! This made me wonder if the crank case was over pressurizing and forcing oil through some weak spots. I then idled the car and removed the oil cap to check the state of pressure/vacuum. There was definitely no vacuum and just a bit of pressure as some vapors were exiting the oil hole immediately. There was no hissing past the oil cap or any apparent forces on it when I watched it while loose.
Anyway, I've only read dated threads about the system and capping it vsvl OCC install. Does anyone know if the capping could cause issue? The turbo side vent line appears normal.

thanks for the look!

Welcome.

Believe for more than an introduction you should post in a forum other than this one. Not a moderator and don't want to put you off after your initial post just want you to post in a forum where you stand the best chance of getting the help you seek.

Well, it appears to me this forum:

R56 :: Hatch Talk (2007+) MINI Cooper and Cooper S (R56) hatchback discussion.

Would be more suited.

I'm willing to respond to any thread anywhere but I know that this is not always the accepted way.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the mods I'll offer that really the engine should have a functioning crankcase ventilation system. This helps reduce sludge and acid formation and keeps the crankcase under low pressure which helps prevent the appearance of oil leaks/seeps that can arise if the crankcase is capped off in some way.

Engines normally produce a bit of ring blow by and the crankcase ventilation system is there negate this.

Thanks for the input. This was what I was leaning towards as the reason the oil is making its way out in a few places that were recently addressed. I'm replacing the valve cover gasket today. Next I'll be deciding on what to do about the capped crankcase vent line.
