Finally found my R53

After months of searching, busted trip to North Carolina, watching all of them under 5k get snatched up within hours, and these are just the ones 4 hours away from Cincinnati, I found an 05 with 143k, was towed and still has everything for it. Here the build sheet….$4500 was agreed upon price. Has cravenspeed strut defenders and dip stick, Alta intake, unknown exhaust for now, nice pops, 15% WMW pulley. This things runs strong and great. No lights, clean scan on schwaben. Only problems will need headliner, windshield, and oil pan gasket, no rust, Florida car. I will get better pics tomorrow.

4.5 hours back to Cincinnati, water and oil never went above 190, hit 16 lbs of boost, and she has a milltek exhaust. Huge score for me.

Nice new whip there Jason. I'm sure that I'm not the only one here eager to hear your comparison of the two very different cars. Once you have the new one sorted of course.

so far, the 05 seems to be more of a solid car. It doesn’t have the creeks and moans that my Clubman has. Wife was surprised how quiet it was when we were driving around, we could talk to each other even with the Milltek popping.

Crooked River Garage said I would never find one under 5k that didn't need 5k worth of work. Jokes on them, found one with hard work and determination, 6 months worth. They can keep those 12.5k prices up north.

Yea, i been around MINIs since 2004. Cant believe every place that sells MINIs, they sell them for a reason. I got a steal on my R58 JCW from a Chevy dealer in cinny back in the day, they did not even know it was still under warranty for the dead battery and oil change.

He really didn't know everything he had. He took it to an Indy shop and had every dash light fixed. His baby was a 57 Chevy that was on a 4 post lift, you could eat off the underside of the car, and he parked the mini under it. I can't wait to dig in further and see what I find. Got a set of cabrio braces waiting to go in. Then I need to have a party with both mini's and swap the rsb, rear strut brace, and race seat.

Scanguage added yesterday during lunch at work.

Schroth 4 point harness installed very next day after purchase. I have grown accustomed to the harness and regular belts just don’t feel the same.

I’m in Cincinnati, plates are from previous owner which I was going to go switch today but I have been on a P1 call for 4 hours now and it isn’t looking like that’s getting done today. Once I get the title changed and OH plates I’m going to be mailing the TN plates back to the owner.

Removed rsb and moved it over to the R53 today.

Poor clubby lost her 25 rsb today and back to 17mm.

25 mm RSB squeezed in and set in middle.

Next weekend will be down time to relax with family. Ss lines on way from ECS, then it will be time to swap lines, fluids, and first front end service mode for oil pan gasket and crankshaft position sensor o-ring, then shake down dragon time.

ECS SS Brake Lines with fresh ATE TYP 200 fluid, which was so needed and transmission fluid swapped out with Redline MTL. Some simple little maintenance items that make such a huge difference. Last thing left, for now besides the huge bath she needs, im staring down the oil pan gasket and crankshaft positioner o-ring. Will be the first time i put this one in service mode, she will get a fel-pro oil pan gasket, oem o-ring, Liquid Moly 5w-30, Oem Filter, and New oem drain plug, there is a fromoto or whatever there and it might be leaking as well. Then all her maintenance should be up to date and a dragon shake down might be in her nearest of futures.
