NOT a new member

Well I’m not a new member but I will re introduce myself. I had a 2004 JCW and sold it over 6 years ago. I regretted selling it even before it was gone. I swore by the super charger and never cared for turbos. I bought a N/A 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS that I absolutely love but still missed the JCW. I saw a friend was selling his GP 2 that had 28,000 miles on it. I immediately called him and am now the proud owner of GP #0154 and back in the MINI scene. The previous owner, Jerry, added all the right mods to this car and what a wild ride it is. I still own the GTS and just bought my wife an Audi RS3. Talk about 3 completely different cars….but man is it fun trying to decide which one you want to drive!
I will update my signature soon, it’s hard to delete what I did to the JCW

I almost gave up on mine. Had a head gasket go - sat in the driveway for a year and a half. Almost donated it to NPR not too long after Click (or was it Clack), one of the Cat Guys brothers died. Sooo glad I didn't - even though it would have gone to a great cause. The head was a pretty straightforward, if fairly long, fix. Took a couple of weeks with having to disassemble the head, have it decked, re-seat the valves and add new seals. Was fun, and I've undertaken a complete restoration now. Sorry to hear that your og car is gone, but sounds like you scored a pretty sweet replacement.

Pics?

Glad to hear you kept yours! My buyer called me awhile back and said he was going to sell it so I went and looked at it. I was heart broken. The car was trashed. The majority of carbon fiber I had added was either ruined or missing. The stripes were baked and coming off. The paint was not taken care of. He mentioned some issues he was having with it. I was so afraid of what the engine would have been like, and I couldn’t drive it, since he didn’t seem to take care of the exterior or interior that I had to pass on buying it back. It actually hurt seeing it in that condition. I’ll have to look at your restomod thread.

I'm sorry to hear that. Some cars we know are just for utility. I like my Jeep Cherokee - it kicks *** at getting thorough snow and mud. Hell, our horses got out a couple of years ago and went on a wild galavant across rolling farm fields and coulees in the winter with 8" of snow on the ground. I drove that Cherokee across 6 miles of no-road fields through drifts 3 feet tall. It got stuck in a snow bank once and I had it out in about 10 minutes. Great car. I don't think I would feel loss if I had to sell it. I would be a little sad, of course. I would experience grief if I had to part with the MINI. So, I understand what you say. It must have been very hard.

Anyhow, here's to a new attachment!

Yep its been de-decaled. Its looks clean the way it is. I had a chance to buy a GP1 for $7,500 and it was gone the next day, it was a daily driver and needed work. . GP2 i was looking at one for 13K but it needed a ton of work and I think they daily it, it was sold the next day from a carmax in cali. Carmax can be a scary place for rare MINIs as most i have seen a pretty rough.

Both were way before the crazy covid market. Like in 18' and 17'
