I just, in the past month, picked up a '11 Clubman with the N18 engine, and well, I didn't fare well choosing it and am now looking at a fat bill for both valve cover and oil filter housing gasket replacements. In fairness to myself, I guess I'd rather say I didn't get lucky in choosing it, because I knew I was rolling the dice in buying it without a pre-purchase inspection, but you know how used car inventory is selling fast these days, so I decided to pull the trigger on the buy since it was otherwise pretty much everything we were hoping for, particularly in the looks and interior condition departments. I did decide to purchase a warranty/service contract through the selling dealer to cover the risk, and I'm glad to have done that since my local indie shop quoted me $2.2k for the gasket jobs. We've yet to see how much of that bill the warranty will cover, but I'm hoping it's most if not all.
So anyway, as I'm new to Mini, I've been checking around the forums trying to see if there are other WYAIT (i.e. while you are in there) jobs it might make sense to have done at this time, and the turbo oil return line seems to be one of those things, but I'd like to ask y'all if you agree with that and whether there are any other items to add. The engine has 97.5k miles.
