06 S, 131k miles. I replaced both the PS lines to the reservoir because they were leaking at the bottle with OEM replacements. Now I'm getting a leak that is following the subframe toward the rear of the car on both sides. I don't know where the source of the leak is coming from.

I searched and it doesn't seems often that the high pressure line fails. Rack isn't leaking from the sides/boots. Pump would leak in middle of subframe area, not rearward. Any suggestions?

 

An easy one first, the o-ring at the reservoir cap which is pretty common. Next would recheck the PS line connections on top and below. You can always do the UV dye thing too.

 

Daftlad I replaced the o-ring and checked the lines. I don't believe the leak is coming from them. If it were, I would see fluid on the power steering motor. The leak is all the way in the back, on both sides.

 

How does the UV Dye thing work? What do you use? I’ve done it on AC and it was very useful.
