High Beam Issue

Traded in our 2013 R56 for a 2016 F56 at CarMax yesterday and everything was fine until we were driving it home. It got dark. When I activated the high beams by pushing the stalk forward they came on, but when I tried to turn them off by pulling back they stayed on. The only way I could get them to shut off was to flip the headlight switch to parking lights and then back to on. Pulling back the stalk to flash the high beams does not work either.

The car has the LED headlights, but not the High Beam Assist.

Is this a simple fix or a possible nightmare?
Thanks

Sounds like the stalk needs repair.
Carmax has a warranty?

Looks like its a $700 part, plus install.
Drive back to Carmax.

Yes, there is a 90 days or 4,000 miles, whichever comes first.: "Unless prior authorization is given, the repair or replacement of Covered Parts must be performed at a CarMax store." The CarMax store is 240 miles away, so they might grant that prior authorization.

But my ace in the hole is 30 day/1500 mile money back guarantee.

Call them right away, and document the problem occurred as you left the lot.
I understand Carmax doesnt do "complicate" specialty repairs in house.
You should be referred to a MINI dealer near you, and bill Carmax.

I called them just awhile ago and they said to call back on Monday when the service department is in. The I talked said, of course it in, I said you are 24o miles away and the answer was then we'll refer you to a Mini dealer. When I said the nearest Mini dealer is 40 miles further than they are she said they will probably let me use the mechanic that I've used in the past on the previous Mini that is only 70 miles away.

For reference I live in Klamath Falls, OR, the car max is in Salem (240) and the Mini dealer is in Portland (280) or Sacramento (300). The BMW/Mini mechanic is in Medford, OR.

Thanks for the help and advice on this
Brian
