2006 S convertible help

Hi Mini Guru's,

I have a 2006 S convertible -- and love it. It still runs like a dream.
Unfortunately, a couple of years ago it rained overnight while I had the top down. The electric system has been a little whack since then.

Last week it rained buckets and now:
- the convertible top will not open or close... the little red indicator light does not flash when pressed
- signal lights do not work
- radio has power, but no sound (I assume amplifier has no power)
- speedometer, tachometer work, but the backing display (night) light does not come on
- headlights work, but bright/dim icon does not

I have checked fuses but they appear good.
Is there a common electrical component that would explain the symptoms?
I believe the source of the problem may be in or near the trunk where the battery is, because that area seems to get wet with much rain.

Any suggestions to help diagnose or fix is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much!!
john

Double check the fuses, they may look OK but unless you test them with a Multi Meter or test light you can never be certain

First thing, your 2006 convertible is an R52 still, not an R57

I had this mess under my passenger seat that had stopped a lot of my items in the car from working....might be worth a look

Wow. Thank you Brian. I will check that out.
Should I check the passenger side only or both?

If your car is a US based Mini, (left hand drive), then it will be under the passenger front seat, right hand side of the car. No need to check both sides, These are just the K-Bus wires that allow the individual computers to talk with each other. You are gonna have to remove the seat and pull the carpet back to get to this wire junction
