Hello. I have owned a 2014 2D S with full dealer Mini JCW upgrade when bought new. Not raced. Under 30k miles. Fun car. This is the first issue since bought new (except for the various TSB). This code popped up when backing up out of the garage. It says that the performance has been reduced. Took it in to mini service who were very busy. However, they had a small scanner tool that was no help. They suggest This has go under a proprietary tool to see what it means. Any ideas? It drives, shifts, perfectly. Except, I did test that is does decrease the power.

Have you got a chip on the car, like Dinan, NM, or Burger JB+?

 

It's a problem with the electronic wastegate. We got that same code on my wife's (unmodified) Clubman in January. The error happened on a drive up to Colorado but then went away until we were back home a week later. The dealer replaced it under warranty.

 

Good question. No third party chip. When purchased new, the Mini dealer did the Factory JCW upgrade to the S. Which includes new exhaust, BT opened.. And a new factory tune. Includes new JCW badges inside and outside vehicle.

 

Well, that stinks if the error is not a intermittent false. We are out of warranty. I also have read this is some kind of low voltage indication on some sensor. We have the original 2014 battery. If we are lucky, might be related to that. However, you are the first person (Thank you!) who ID the actual code.

Repair shop indicated all is well at the moment. This code happened only once. There is a firmware upgrade from BMW this does not have. They claim that should help with false codes. They claim it will not mess up the installed JCW factory upfit. Not sure of that.

Will keep eye on it in case it pops up again. In meantime, ran bunch of top engine cleaner in the gas (not enough to mess with the cat), in case the gate is sticking. We are super easy driving the mini… So…. I also took it out with this tank of gas, popped the BT exhaust system to open, went to best sport mode in the factory JCW up fit code. Ran it around to blow it out.

The intake valves I keep clean with a cleaner that goes in the intake. The cam probe shows they are clean.

Just had this fixed on my '21 JCW Countryman. It was the wastegate, which failed closed. Replaced under warranty. The car stayed in limp mode even when the actual message disappeared. I'm surprised other people were able to keep driving theirs.
