R56 Replace relatively new Thermostat gasket?
Replace relatively new Thermostat gasket?
Because of the relatively low cost involved, I should probably not bother to post this but ...
I need to replace my water pipe and will need to remove the thermostat to do so. I just replaced the thermostat 8/22/22.
Should I replace the gasket on the thermostat?

Might not be a bad idea to have one on hand. The gaskets are pretty cheap compared to the work involved in getting to it.

you should have just replaced that water pipe the same time you did the thermostat. I agree with Nik, you are there, might as well just replace it. I know what a PITA it is to do that job, i have replaced that stupid pipe twice in under 1 year. Buy an OEM water pipe and not a knock off, i had the Rein one, and it started leaked at the o ring into water pump after less than a year.
I did replace the pipe when I replaced the thermostat.
You are right about buying a mini pipe! I bought a Burgaflex pipe from Pelican. The o ring on the thermostat side was too bog and I had a hell of a time getting it to fit.
A while after I had completed the job, the pipe began to leak again. Pelican was great about a credit for the pipe and I have a new mini pipe on hand waiting to replace the Burgaflex.
Replacing that pipe is a tough job. I see people recommending removing the intake manifold to do it, but I'll try it gain without doing that.
