Did I brick my DME with Bm3?
EDIT:Zanin got me fixed up unexpectedly today and Roxanne is alive. He had to get on the line with the masters in Holland. Had to lock the bootloader though. So now to take the dme out and send it to Canada for an unlock
Started to do a Stage 1 tune last week on my 2015 Mini Cooper S 4 door. And it went south real quick. The first flash attempt did nothing. So I i hooked everything back up and the second attempt definitely did the trick.
Yes I got the dme needs to be bench unlocked. Warning. Most of the videos I've watched had the same warnings. So I pressed through and force flashed a Stage 1 93 octane. Was going to do a Stage 2 93 octane but for Stage 2 they all require a high flow down pipe. (the only upgrade I don't have). So stage 1 it is.
Well it failed at 1% twice so I stopped. Went to do the flash back to stock tune and that's when the issues came up. Bootmod3 no longer recognizes that I have a vehicle associated with my account. Looking into it with the obd Agent I now have no CAFD ID along with two other sftw Id's in not sure are supposed to be there or not.
Got in touch with support and they set me up this past Friday for a 3pm appointment. Someone showed up on
Through email and there little screen share program sometime after 4pm. Sat in the car ready to get things sorted out for over and hour.
Now he did stay logged on until after 5pm trying to help me. Apparently windows 11 has a lot more protections than I thought, so he couldn't do what he needed to get accomplished because he couldn't see my screen but could move my cursor. Said we'd try again this week.
They started emailing me at 4am today for my availability today. So I called out of work to make sure I had the entire 9am-5pm to get this done during their work hours. After telling them I was available all day they asked about 1pm today. Ok sure half day gone no problem.
They scheduled me for 1pm Tuesday! Really man? Just said I called out Today. So now tomorrow at 1p. I'll be at my job. Miles away from the car or the chance for them to help.
So now I guess I'm down to removing the unit myself and sending it off to someone to repair, bench unlock and hopefully flash this tune to my car.
Before I go through all that does anyone know of a way to get the Cafd file back on my DME? It definitely sucks to have a $20000 paper weight in the driveway.
Again I know this is my screw up and have been almost literally beating myself up all weekend for this one. The real kicker is I'm not too far from a Dinan authorized shop.
I just tried to avoid having to put my put my car down for a week or better. And tons of people rave about Bm3 and their support team. But here I am a week later, car still down Immobile.
They were quick to email back and forth. And after asking about today's schedule to get setup today and schedule me for a day when I won't be available.
Not really happy about this one anymore. I'd almost give away the Bm3 tune away to just my car running again. Luckily I have another car as well as the wife's car so I'm not stranded. Damn could've just had my car at the Dinan shop for this entire time.
Sorry for the cryingfest over here. I know i messed the car up and its probably not an obligation to them to help me fix things but it's almost as they're my Obi Wan Kenobi and my only hope before just buying a new DME going from there. If that would even fix anything.
I've searched nearly everything i can find about Bm3 and flashing and can never really find the the answers. If anyone knows of a way to reinstall Cafd and possibly the other two (missing) sftware files could you please send me a tiny bit of direction. Don't really want to remove it to send off for a refurbish attempt if that even really works

Stories like this are why, when it comes to my car's ECU, I play it safe and send it to experts (e.g. Dinan, Bytetronik, etc). Several years on I'm still happy with my Bytetronik tune. Loads of power on tap, no check engine lights or troubles of any sort.
I'm just happy i got it running again. I'm the one who messed it up by not headed the big warning ok n the screen. I went with Bm3 instead of local Dinan because I didn't think I'd need a bench unlock.
But then the process said I would and I tried to flash anyways. Just was trying to get out of having the car down. It's been a week today. But I've got a boost leak somewhere around the turbo area so while the. Dme is getting unlocked I'm planning to get it that.
These cars can definitely be a pain sometimes. But they're my pain so it'll be ok. I hope.
