Have a 2008 R55 clubman base. Have replaced MAP Sensor, throttle body, ignition coils, head gasket, mass airflow, water pump, thermostat assembly, coolant reservoir, and exhaust manifold/catalytic converter.
Car has 206,700 miles on it, bought it from a college kid in April of 2021. Ran well until about August.
Started to overheat, redid all the cooling and head gasket, ran for about a month then started dying randomly. Idles rough, shudders while trying to maintain a steady speed, dies while pressing on gas to accelerate. After replacing the ignition coils it ran fine for two days and returned to the rough idle and random dying.
Codes being thrown are 283D and 2AFC

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

 

283D= VANOS exhaust Adaptation movement – camshaft timing over-advanced or system performance
2AFC= Intake air temp sensor
The VANOS issue can especially cause severe driveability issues.
