White house paint on my fake black leather interior!

Because I’m an idiot, I purchased a 2007 Mini from a house painter who used it on the job. It’s not terrible and there are no spills, just little smudges and flecks here and there on the fake black leather upholstery. Is there a safe way to remove paint from fake leather? If not, I’ll just take a fine point Sharpie to the stuff, but there must be a better way!

Just go to a home or hardware store and ask for a latex paint remover. There are many. Goo Gone makes one. Follow instructions.

I thought of that but was concerned it would melt the fake leather, which I can only assume must be a kind of plastic. But I’ll give it a go on the least visible of the spots and report back.

i would't let it sit TOO long ..... hence the follow instructions
I'd hope if it would damage vinyl there'd be a warning. I've used regular goo gone and such with no issues.
I'd even be willing to give a STRONG solution of simple green a try again don't let it sit. Full strength simple green can remove automotive paint!

I’m with ya man. I’ll go easy using a cotton swab. It’s only fake leather but it’s what I’ve got to work with.

if you google 'remove dried latex paint' you'll find a BUNCH of suggestions .....

warm vinegar solution with a soak via paper towels is certainly a safe sounding approach.

deal is you need to soften the paint ( easier to remove new paint)

another case wear I'd whip out my trusty steam cleaner ...... soften the paint then ht with one of the remover products.

Well guess what worked: hand sanitizer with 70 percent alcohol! The gels they put in it makes it stay (mostly) where you put it so it can soak without all running off the vinyl. A stiff brush and some fingernail for the tough bits did the job.
