2009 turbo parts

Got a question, i bought a 2009 copper s, i can't register it and has a head that wasn't properly machined and causes the front camshaft to bond with the 2 caps on the drivers side causing it to stop turning after i turn off the car and let it sit, I'm giving up on it, can i take thermostat housing and catalytic converter and put it on a 2009 base cooper, transmission? Thanks in advance

Take a look at the illustrated parts list --- https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select to see if part numbers for the parts you want to exchange are the same.

There's a good possibility the cam caps were replaced, switched, or just installed wrong by the previous owner, causing the cam to bind. These caps are not replaceable or interchangeable! They are line-bored as a part of the head. Sometimes people get lucky and replacement caps fit without binding --- sounds like yours didn't. Can you post pics of the cam caps as installed? Maybe we can see if the markings are oriented correctly.
