it keeps my intake temps at ambient or a couple of degrees above.

Look at the end caps, they are different. The one that you posted, I ran one similar to that up until April of this year when I had a talk with a ditch on the dragon. My intake temps would run 12-14 above ambient and it would heat soak badly and take forever to recover. The one I posted I’m run now and have been since may. My intake temps run ambient to a couple of above, and it recovers fast. It also fit better, didn’t have to bend the tabs for the bottom grille.

the housing looks much thicker and the endcaps look larger as well. was it a pain to install? Do you need any extra parts for fitting it?

nope remove old install new. A little lube on the hoses to help them slide on, I used Vaseline just a small coat on finger and ran it around the metal inlets. My second one I had swapped out in 30 minutes, first on took a couple of hours since I didn’t really know what I was getting into. There are some good how tos on YouTube for it as well. As for tools I think it was a t25 and a trim tool for most of it, and a flat head for the intercooler clamps or 7mm socket.
