F55/F56 Disable Pops, keep burbles - possible?
Disable Pops, keep burbles - possible?
Hi All,
I have a 2017 countryman s all 4 6mt. I’d like to eliminate/reduce the distinct “popcorn”/gunfire sounds from my exhaust while keeping (or enhancing) the “burbles”. I like my exhausts louder and on the immature side :-) but the specific “pop pop pop” on deceleration is too artificial for my taste.
is it possible to use bootmod3 or similar to disable the pops without losing the burbles?
can bootmod3 achieve this without buying a tune? I.e. can I just use it to remap the burble settings without adjusting performance parameters (boost, etc)?
any thoughts?
thank you!

I don't think bootmod3 is going to work unless you buy a license to the software. For bootmod3, you buy the software for $600 and get one free tune. You can either buy all their tunes for $50 or contact a custom tuner. Once you do buy BM3, I am assuming one of the many custom tuning companies listed may be able to remap for your burbles.
I have the exact same wish as you on my 14 F56 S. I have a bytetronik tune, and it certainly added more of both pops and burbles. I don't know if it's possible to seperate them, but that would be a great question for bytetronik or another tuner. Or year, ask a BM3 tuner. From what I've seen in the coding parameters, it's just one parameter for both. But I don't know much about this stuff.
But one weird thing I noticed on my car- I do get more burbles when I turn on dynamic traction control. Pops stay about the same. So makes me think that somehow, it's possible.
It also seems like it varies from car to car. Maybe Mini changed something depending on the year? No idea.
Last point- I'm really happy with my Remus valved exhaust, with a Magnaflow resonator added in the mid-pipe. In all positions except full-closed, the burbles sound great. But the pops are well muted in the 10% position. 30% pretty decent too. I never open more than that, the pops are too much.
