2020 Countryman S exhaust vs 2017 Countryman S exhaust

Just turned in my 2017 Countryman S lease, and bought a 2020 Countryman S (iconic trim) since I liked my countryman so much. Its a big change going from the base model to the iconic trim.
One large difference I've noticed between the two is with the exhaust in sport mode. My 2017 seemed quite a bit louder, and would "pop and bang" on downshifting, letting off throttle, etc. The pops were quite loud, very noticeable even with the windows up.
The 2020 is a lot more quiet, and does not pop at all in sport mode. I haven't revved it above about 3500 bc of break in, but my 2017 would pop a lot just downshifting lightly to bring the revs up to 2500-3k rpm.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or is this something that will start happening again once the engine is broken in?

If not I'm looking into either the Dinan Elite exhaust, or the JCW kit. My only worry with those is that they might be too loud in mid/eco mode, as I do quite a bit of highway driving and like it pretty quite then.

I have an Iconic 2019 All4-S F60. 9k miles. It started quite tame but the pops and bangs are getting louder and louder. I only drive it in sport mode. My local dealership said that is completely normal. I think yours will wake up.

I have a 2019 top trim, fully loaded, and never any pops. Zero difference in sound between mid and sport modes. 5500 miles.

Guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. Going to take quite a while to put on miles working at home. Still has under 400 miles on it a month in.

I have a 2019 S. I can hear pops in sport mode when downshifting or letting off the throttle in high revs. I have a manual transmission.
