Setting clock with Aftermarket stereo

I have installed a double DIN Boss Elite touchscreen into a friend's 2010 R56 and now since the stock head unit is gone, I can't figure out how to set the clock on the tach. Any help much appreciated.

I’m pretty sure you need the stock radio back in there to set the clock, that’s why a lot of us don’t do it. Just hunt around for aftermarket stereo installs for the r56, same stereo, and you will find all you need.

OK I get that the clock is no longer active, but is there a way to remove the clock altogether and display something else in its place? I don't have an owners manual for this car.
