Purchased an early-model 2018 Mini Cooper JCW with the ID4 8.8" screen, but no touch functionality. Spent HOURS reading through threads trying to figure out what my options were. Need to give a shoutout to @BIMMER-REMOTE.com who carried out the flashing process for me. It went flawlessly and everything seems to be working so far!

 

So they remotely reprogrammed the 8.8” screen so it now has apple car play??

 

Care to share the steps and links for how to do this. I too am lost between threads and very interested.

Placed the order yesterday at 11am, spent 20 minutes downloading some software and setting up the laptop, scheduled an appointment for 9am today, and it was done around 10am. You do need to have an ENET cable and a car charger or something to keep the battery charged. For the price, I think it is a no-brainer.
