Just picked up a 2012 JCW Clubman and I know it has the JCW N14 engine because of the buildsheet. My question is, do these JCW engines come with any special markings on any of the engine components like the R53 JCW's. Does it have an upgraded CAI like the R53's or do all of them just have the standard flat drop in filter? I'm curious because the previous owner did a full engine rebuild and maybe lost, misplaced or just installed regular valve covers and cai without the OEM JCW markings. I just want to make sure my JCW isn't missing anything that it should have.

 

If the previous owner did a full rebuild, I would ask for receipts and proof of what was completed, including receipts from any machine shop work. If previous owner cannot produce any of that paperwork, walk away.

 

It seems like he already purchased the vehicle.

 

Lol yeah it's to late to return it. You are correct though, I made sure their was suffcient proof etc and the rebuild seems to be great.

As far as I know, there isn’t any way to determine a JCW engine from any run of the mill Cooper S engine, unless you know the car it came from. Maybe if you could trace the engine number…
