R60 SALL4 <6000RPM Acceleration Hesitation

Hi Guys, off-late been having a weird issue with my 2013 R60 SALL4 Automatic (86K Miles), when merging into the freeway (or sudden acceleration/dropdown), the gear drops down and RPM lingers around 6000 - 7000 (35-50MPH), but doesn't accelerate any further. During this time, the car jerks sharply twice or thrice and I have heard almost like a momentary grinding sound coming from the front/back right passenger seat area accompanied with almost an engine flameout wooshing noise (not from the engine though). I brake slightly and wait for the RPM to go down after which the vehicle auto shifts and runs smoothly. I don't see this issue during gradual acceleration.

No error codes whatsoever, vehicle fluids are all at desired levels, no oil or other leaks. Could this be a symptom of the clutch or transmission giving out ? Any other means to investigate this behavior ? Thank you!

Fuel pump is under the rear passenger seat. Not sure if you have a fuel problem. Normally the fuel pump is almost silent. I just replaced mine due to the level sending unit failing.

Hmm thanks, I can try digging on it further, did it throw any error codes for you (level sending unit failing) ?

No error codes or anything, just got an erratic fuel level that would sometimes show max, sometimes correct level. But I could see a fuel issue at high rpm if it sounds like the car is running out of gas perhaps. This is on a 2016 S All 4. I pulled the rear passenger seat to get to it, changing it out was pretty simple task, watched a you tube video on it and got the parts from ECSTuning. Sorry, can't say it has anything to do with your intermittent problem.

Scan your car with something like Carly. I'll bet you will find super knock errors.

plugs can cause that, coils can cause that, and timing chain can do that.

if it's one cylinder knocking, suspect plugs or coil, if it's all of them, could be fuel, could be timing chain.

Could be High Pressure Fuel Pump. Did it ever go into "limp" mode by any chance (the half yellow check engine light)? I mention this because I am aware of a warranty extension for HPFP on certain MINI's.

Thankfully not (yet) !! Everything else checks out with the vehicle other than rapid/quick acceleration.

Which Octane gas do you use? If you have an "S" model, you should at least shoot for 89 octane. Do you use synthetic oil or regular oil?

I have only been using the Shell vNitro Oct-93 since I bought the vehicle around 6.5K miles ago. Been using the 'Castrol Edge 5W-30 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil with K&N oil filter'. This issue I have noticed in the past 1K - 1.5K miles.

Update: A week ago while merging on the freeway, I felt the car hesitate/stutter and then went into the dreaded limp-mode (half yellow CEL), I somehow managed to pull over safely and plugged my scanner to check the codes which was a P0303. Once home, I swapped the cylinder '3' coil with 1 and tried other variations but the code didnt clear, infact another code P0300 popped up. Ordered and replaced all 4 coils with Delphi GN10328 and voilà all was well again, replaced the spark plugs as well and did some hard accelerations/pulls on the freeway, looks like the initial issue i reported seems to have been resolved now (will update here if its back), super glad it wasn't HPFP related
