R57 After Battery Replacement, Top Won't Go Down
After Battery Replacement, Top Won't Go Down
My original battery died and it took me several days with the battery out to find one. I do not have the IBS thing, so I figured I could replace the battery without issues.
After replacement, the car starts up fine and I get a "Service" flash on the screen, but it runs fine.
The top retracts to the midpoint, but will not go down. Just stops.
Do I have to reset something to get this to work?
Thanks
Randy

Nobody?
Okay, try it with this new insight.
When I was going over the car looking for reasons for the battery to be flat, I noticed a good bit of water in the boot.
Not a good thing. The seals around the trunk door seem fine, but the carpet was wet in there and there was actually a little water standing under the jack compartment.
I don't think that has anything to do with the problem, but it occurred to me that I'd been poking around in the boot and maybe I messed with something that interferes with the convertible top going down?
What do I need to check in there?

Well, about the tenth time seems to be the charm. This morning I thought I'd take another stab at the problem.
I opened up the boot again, moved both levers and lifted the accessory shelf. Then I tapped the button under the left side of the shelf vigorously about twenty times, making damn sure it was moving freely and was seated before I locked the shelf down again.
And the top works again.
Did I actually do anything? Did the moisture in the boot affect the switch, keeping me from putting the top down?
The world may never know...
But it's going to be 60* today and my convertible converts, so for today, I don't care.
