Make side scuttles actually venting?

Hey guys,

Is there any way to make side scuttles actually work to cooling down the engine bay?. I know there are the strut mounts in between, but maybe there is a way piping trough the hollow space below the wipers. Have any of you made a mod in this way ?

Jep! Also a good skidplate aids in extracting hot air from the engine bay.

There are vented scuttles btw.

My idea was to become useful the scuttles, they could be more than only an esthetical object. And obviously without modify the hood or fenders

Although the airflow isn’t great, I don’t think the area behind the scuttles is actually sealed from the engine compartment so they are already “functional”. I doubt it will make much of a difference, but removing the black mesh to increase airflow would probably be the easiest and only thing to do other than getting aftermarket scuttles that have larger openings.

In the early Mini's, and which still holds true today. Full venting of the engine compartment more than designed by manufacturer can lead to problems such as increased egine coolant/oil temps and engine over heating. A certain amount of pressure inside engine compartment is required to aid in making the positive pressures at front of radiator for efficient engine radiator cooling.....
