why retian the headunikt

I have put a big system in my 12 cooper HK and I am using the stock head unit front outputs to my dsp to my 7 channels (1100 watts) active 3 way front stage and a sub
i have cut and sold my original HK amp. so does this mean i can't do software updates (are there really going to be more updates8 yrs later.)
i want to put in an android auto head unit,
so what else do I lose if i dont keep the headunit. someone told me something about service reminders cant be set or reset because there is no way to set the clock.

i know relocating the radio would require just a few things. lengthen the existing radio harness and a 50 pin flat cable
i canamanget eh rest with various harnesses.

you won’t be able to reset the clock if you remove the head unit and I think you will get a code when it needs to be reset. Search android head units on here.

Clock is both the rpm and the speedo gauge. You will lose the one in the speedo but the one in the rpm will still work, but if you disconnect your battery you won’t be able to reset it and you will have a code.

do you know what code ? and or what it will take to clear it. if the only thing i lose is teh clock in the speedo (but my head unit has a clock) i don't care and i can save myself a lot of hassle.
if i can clear it wiht a $100 code reader which i need ot buy to register my battery, its worth it still.
