Stage 2 Tune question

Hello all-

I have a stage 2 tune question. I have a 2013 JCW HT that I have attempted to modify. Upgraded installations:

1. Cold air intake
2. Miller’s high flow down pipe
3. Spark plugs
4. Coil packs
5. intetcooler

When I had the tune first done, the car would not pass emissions so I have returned the ECU to stock and removed dp. We will see if passes emissions tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, I loved how the car sounded and how quick it was with the stage 2. My questions are:

1. Does anyone have a recommendation of who can do the tune to get the speediness and sound and guarantee I will pass Illinois emissions?
2. Would I just need to have a spare ECU with the tune and swap out every 2 years for emissions testing?
3. Does anyone know if by having these mods on my car affect the reliability long-term and if so, what can I do to insure my Shmee runs and performs awesome for many years to come?

Thank you for any advice and input and Happy New Year to all!!

What part didn’t pass emissions? Sniffer, CEL?

It was refused because catalytic converter monitor was not supported because of the tune.

Oh Oh ...was it MarioKart that tuned it for you? I had discussions with him and felt "relieved" that an inspection test using OBD2-only would pass. After the tune I have no codes.

But I know the risk is there so I'm prepared to uninstall Downpipe, inspect and reinstall...

yes Mario did tune twice. Problem is, we live in Illinois and he is in Cali. Like he said, wished we were local to work out the bugs. He really is a great guy, however, the first tune sounded awesome and then when he redid the tune (although he said he used same parameters just different platform), when it was installed in car, the car barely burbled—but seemed much quicker. I would rather have burble and aggressive exhaust note than it being even faster than the first time he did it.

Got it. Let us know if you find a solution. I'll report in a year when I have to do the inspection

I appreciate this info OP. I am interested in a tune for my car as well. I try to explain to tuners all the time, that the o2 monitor has to be READY, not turned off and 'not supported' a lot of these tuners think no CEL and it just passes. But its a bit more complicated than that.
