US vs Canadian Models (F54 specifically)
US vs Canadian Models (F54 specifically)
Hi everyone,
So, I recently joined the club! I picked up a used 2018 Mini Clubbie and so far it's pretty awesome!
That said, it didn't come with a back up camera or the parking assist stuff which I heard is standard for the 2018 model year. I did some calling around and found out that my car was built for the Canadian market instead! Apparently only the US models come with these standard and that got me wondering, are there any other differences? I noticed I don't have front sensors either as far as I can tell but not sure what else to check for since it's a new car and I admittedly didn't do a ton of research beforehand.
I called my dealer and they won't let me return it so I'm already "stuck" which I'm not too upset about since I got a great deal and I really enjoy the car.
So, anyone know of any other differences? Please and thank you everyone.

The rear camera only comes with the HUD display on Canadian models on a ‘17 and I assume ‘18. Traditionally in canada they package options together, and most accessories are dealer installed, optioned for a floor model to control an msrp or require preordering. It’s a niche car in a niche market up here. I imagine you have daytime running lights, Km/h speedo, and likely different bumper reinforcement since I believe the need to withstand a 5 mph bump, or something to that effect. Not sure why your dealer wouldn’t have to divulge it was previously a Canadian market car. The exchange rate often makes buying preowned cars very favourable, especially if it was off auction from lease return.
