I ran into a problem on my wife`s 2011 clubman S that I am not able to solve myself.
A few weeks ago, the half engine light came on. The car stil starts and drives, but with noticeably reduced power. Also, it threw the codes P0598, P0003, an C342D. Fuse #2 (25a) was blown, when I replaced it, I saw smoke coming from underneath the intake manifold.
I removed the intake manifold to check for damaged electrical components and wires and found the wire that led to the part in the picture without insulation. The part itself sits on the engine block right above the oil pan (facing the rear of the engine)
I could not find anything on the parts diagram that would help me.
Please advise if you can
Looks like thermostat housing. The first code is P0598 which is thermostat heater control circuit low, and the second one is a generic fuel control code

Hi and thank you for your response. on the 2011 turbo charged engine the thermostat housing is made of plastic, has inlets for 4 hoses and that coolant pipe ( I replaced the pipe and water pump a while ago). Also, it is located on the right hand side of the engine.
This part is on the bottom, facing the firewall. It is usually flush against the engine and popped out when I was wiggling with the connector to the damaged wires.
Can you identify the round part in the upper-left of the photo? Is it the drive shaft? Also, was this photo taken from above?

Hi and thank you for chiming in,
Iirc it was the motor mount on the upper left. The pic was taken from underneath the car. I followed a frayed wire that came from the plastic cover protected part of the wiring harness that runs across the engine.
I will try to take a better pic after work.
