Cali to Mississippi
Cali to Mississippi
Hey guys.
so I am moving from Cali (Santa clarita) to Mississippi (Olive branch) in a few weeks.
Ive got an 04 R50 at 154k with a Getrag 6-Speed swap.
So I need to find a way to ship, trailer or drive 1,620 miles and figure I’d ask you all who have traveled in your Minis and arrived in one piece.
What do you guys think could my mini make the drive?

I think it all depends on how attached you are to the car. There's no reason to think it wouldn't make the distance, but I think I'd do the math.
300 or 400 miles a day is pretty grueling in almost any car - I did it in limo service for several years in a luxury Town Car. I'd add up the costs of driving - gas, lodgings, meals etc & compare it to shipping ($1,000 maybe?).
Financially, it might make sense to sell the car in CA & buy one in MS, but you still have to get there yourself!
Tough choice.

I would have no issue getting in and doing a 1000 mile weekend or more. Just check your fluids when you get gas and you should be fine, overkill yes, but better safe than sorry.
I’ve done Cleveland to Daytona in a day!
First off, I love my 2005 R50 MINI Cooper.....Koni Yellows and TSW lowering springs. I’ve done the Cleveland, OH to Daytona Beach, Fl trip a few times! Nice approx 1000 miles one way trip. 14 hours in my R50 is a little long, but plan ahead and you should be fine. R50 with 6sp swap are a great set-up! Hang on to that MINI! Lol
Depends how well you take care of it. I just did 2,500 miles last month with my 2006, towing a trailer loaded with a motorcycle.
