I am playing with this also. Really trying to add the rain sensor. I actually cut the harness to the car that had the homelink. It has
5 wires versus 4. And yes there are nine wires (well more then 5) going to that plug in the mirror itself. My mirror is on a convertible with manaul adjustment (no auto dip). I looked the extra wire up and it has nothing to
do with the homelink. I appears to be a auto dip function when you are backing up (or the wire appears to go to the backup sensor).
The rain sensor has 4 wires. Right now I am on hold with this car. Have another convertible to work on. But plan to attach that wire to
where it belongs at some point'

I I know one wire goes to the reverse lights and it tells the mirror to undim

I have the homelink working, still no luck on the auto dim, I'm down to one wire left and that is the black wires on the mirror side of the harness, they are tied together and they go to the auto dim mirror

I think they are either 12v or a 5v signal from something

The auto dim function is built into the mirror and does not need a signal from the car to dim, just power.
It does need the reverse signal to undim when reversing though.

The remote receiver is also in the mirror. Is your keyless entry working?
