JCW Coupe is gone......

I posted on the R58 tread that my Coupe is gone and has been replaced by a BMW M240i.

I listed on the Marketplace many OEM accessories brand new and still in the boxes. Among them, chrome mirror caps, black and chrome JCW scuttles and more.

Richard,

What happened? Just get tired of the JCW and needed a change? Seems like you had a pretty nice little ride there. Do you own any other MINI's?

I am a convert too...but the other way around. I used to own BMW's, was a big Bimmer fan, and got tired of the feeling that I was always driving a family vehicle around, no matter how much power it had. That feeling got more prominent with each newer model I got. I NEVER get that feeling in our JCW. Also...over the years the styling of the BMW line has gotten more generic looking. It sucks when people see your car and think it is a Honda. Granted, they may not know much about cars...but still.

Best of luck to you with the Bimmer

I enjoy 6 years of ownership from new and without any problem but at 70K it was time to think about something new. I was looking for a coupe so the choice in small cars is very limited. The 2020 M 240 i was the only option for performance and practicality in a small package. I can say that I am very happy.

Even though you mainly did appearance mods and didn't do much to make your JCW faster, how would you compare the performance with going from the JCW to the M240i? Is it just a little bit faster, or is it ALOT faster? And lastly, is there anything you miss from the JCW like the go-kart like "wow" factor or is the M240i handling that much different (better or worse)?

The BMW is way much faster and powerful providing all the torque at 1500 rpm from 335 hp/369 ft/tq. It has staggered wheels and tires to provide a better grip and handling. The engine sound with the M Performance exhaust is just outstanding with lot of pops and burbles. The adaptive suspension handles as sharp as the JCW on any curvy mountain roads over here and gripping the road with a rock solid feeling.

The downside is the engine is thirsty and this make a big difference at about 25 mpg vs 32 for the JCW. You don't feel to go fast in the BMW but indeed you are.

No regrets to have passed on a GP3 when I was ready to sign on.
