PLEASE HELP - Does Anyone know how to raise the idle on an R53!?!?
Hey guys-
So I'm trying to raise the idle RPM on my mini to 950. I've search and found numerous people trying to do it or who have done it, but I can't find any information ANYWHERE about how to do it!
It is my understanding that this must be done while the engine is running... But I can't find any information about HOW to do it. What tools do I need? I know tuners like Jan and Way can do it, but I don't know what tool/scanner/software they use.
I have a Laptop with the K-DCAN and INPA/NCSExpert... I have used this on my BMW's but have never tried it with the mini. I know it can be done, but I'm not sure what the software is capable of.
I also have a foxwell NT510 scanner that DOES have the option to permanently raise the idle, but it doesn't work. I can temporarily raise the RPM to 950, and I LOVE IT but the option to permanently raise the idle doesn't do anything when I click the "activate" button. Not sure why.
Does ANYONE know how to do this? Does the engine have to be in some kind of special diagnostic mode in order for my long-term adjustment to stick? Is there a special tool I have to buy? Special software I need to download? I don't care... I really just need this done and don't have the time to drive the car 1,000 miles so one of the renowned tuners can do it for me "in 5 minutes" as I have been told is possible.
PLEASE HELP!!!

I can help you free charge. You need to read DME software and send it to me.No need expensive Bytetronik, just buy this cheap tool, MPPS V18 , need a laptop with OS Win7 or higher.

I will modify the software at any idle rev you want. There are 6 maps which controls idle speed, depend on engine coolant temperature and gearbox type,or AC on or Off.
Wow, that's awesome, man! Thanks!
I'm going to order that scanner right away. It looks like it's coming from China so it might be a few weeks before I receive it, though...
Is it cool if I PM you in a few weeks for help on how to use it? I'm tech savvy but have never heard of this device or the software that goes with it, so I imagine it will be pretty confusing at first.
