Low speed fan linked to PS fan???

Is the low speed fan linked to (or the activation for) the PS fan? My LS fan is out (did not come on at temp it should (214 I think....HS came on at 234) and I plan to replace it (entire fan or resistor...TBD), but I'd like to know if that will also fix (or activate) my PS fan.

I installed a new PS fan a few weeks back, but have no idea (or no way or knowing) if it turns on.
My AC is not connected or working...so I do not have that option to check it...

I did an AutoX today and my PS went out on run #6 in a high speed right hander...not sure if it overheated or if it was some other issue related to traction (DSP was off).
Anyway, I want to fix the fans and see if it helps cooling and the PS issue...

Any info would be appreciated....

In the Bentley manual, there is a version for "hot countries" where the ps fan is still part of the circuit with the low speed fan.

I drove my car two days ago, even tho I shouldn't due to the dual mass flywheel making noise from time to time ... but it took forever at the drive-thru and then the high speed kicked in, usually it means that the Tim Hortons workers are taking their sweet time. As I left the window and got back on the road, I looked at my temp gauge and it was at 3/4, then went to max by the time the light turned green and that I could safely park somewhere. Just that small bit of driving made the temp drop to normal.

Today I was in the process of removing everything to pull the engine and trans out as I'll get my Valeo kit wednesday (doing some gaskets while I'm there too and didn't feel like dropping the subframe anyway) and noticed that the power steering fan was pretty much seized. I replaced it maybe 7-8 years ago when I changed the power steering pump and I don't drive the car during winter, but it got filled with crap anyway. I didn't check the fuse, but I feel like I'll find a bad one, which would explain the random overheating. I took the water pump out and the pto was still filled with oil and the gears looks brand new, at 206,000 km.

I'd start by the fuses, I believe it's inside.

Thanks for the tip and info. I've got a list now of items to check and stuff to dive into...should be fun!
I really hope the new cooling fan works and the PS fan comes on as intended with the Stage 1 fan.

I am pretty certain fuses are good, but ill check again...my PS fan is new and I added a "custom" DIY screen over it to help protect it a bit more but still allow good airflow.

What do you think of an additional air duct that somehow went from the front bumper area to the PS fan and PS pump? I wonder if this would provide constant cooling while in motion and help with overall cooling....what do you think?? This would be in addition to the fan working at the right time/temp.

I've heard my PS fan come on when the low speed fan kicks on. Before I fixed my fried low speed resistor I could actually hear the PS fan kick on when the low speed should have. I believe Mini used to make a duct for the PS fan but has since been discontinued. A custom solution seems like it would definitely help keep temps down.
It's funny, since fixing the fan resistor I haven't really heard my low speed kick in when driving, only occasionally when stopped for a while. When I have the A/C on the fan is always cycling but A/C off is the way to go with these little beasts

I'll update more once I get the new cooling fan in and if I come up with a good ducting solution. Fun little project.
Thank you!

The duct and undertray with a grille for the duct can be found used from a supercharged car with an Aisin auto.
